October 31 - “Mitsubishi Electric Corporation”(MELCO) is holding intensive negotiations about “partnership” with “McQuay” company, one of the leading American producers being present on the global world market. MELCO is also transferring its technology of the screw compressor production to “TECO Electric Machinery Co.”, one of the leading Taiwan producers. As a result, perhaps, there will appear the third global alliance of the leading producers of air-conditioning equipment. As it is known, the first such alliance was co-operation of “Carrier” and “Toshiba”, further “Daikin”- “Matsushita”- “Trane” appeared.

October 28 - The Chinese company is planning to produce air-conditioners in Bulgaria. According to “Xinhua” agency (XINHUA NEWS AGENCY), after the meeting with CFR delegation Bulgarian Deputy Economy Minister Milen Keremedchiev informed about it. The name of the Chinese company is not announced.

October 25 - According to “AFX Asia” agency, with reference to “Nihon Keizai”, Japanese producers “Mitsubishi”and “Hitachi”are planning 20%- reduction of costs on development of new models. Basic reduction of the cost value will be connected with the fact that companies are planning to unify models produced on the enterprises of different countries. “Mitsubishi Electric” modifies compressors and heat-exchangers used in air-conditioners manufactured in Japan, South-Eastern Asia and China. The company produces about 70 models of air-conditioners in Japan, China and Thailand. After standardization of components it is planned that their production volume for “unified models” will be increased up to half of the whole volume of production.

October 22 - According to “Asiaport Daily News” information agency, due to unusually cold weather and fall of demand for climatic equipment, Chinese producers have reduced production volumes since the end of June of 2002. Thus, “Midea Air Conditioner Co.” company has informed about 20% - reduction of production volume since June 20, 2002. Anyhow, on the Chinese market there is felt crisis of overproduction - according to estimations of experts, considerable growth of demand recently has led astray many producers as to general estimation of the market and production plans. The volume of unrealized air-conditioners is estimated approximately as 5 million items during July-August of 2002.

October 21 - According to “Asia in Focus” information agency, taking into account the investigation performed there has been defined the scale of significance of brands on the Chinese market of electronics. The most significant one has been acknowledged “Mitsubishi Electric”brand, on the second place - “Samsung”, on the third one - “Siemens”. The following places have been taken by “Philips” and “Sony” correspondingly. “LG Electronics” - on the 7th place, “Hitachi”- on the 11th one, “Sharp”- on the 17th one.

October 16 - It is nice to watch caprices of the weather from behind the windows of automobiles equipped with climate-control. But if a car does not have the factory system of air-conditioning, it can be well substituted by “Personal Warm + Cool System”. This device is able to cool down in the hot weather and warm up when it’s cold. It is enough to put on personal climate-control on your neck and fix one of four working modes. Flexible design of the device allows to surround a neck of any size. Metallic plate inside of “thermolace” is thermostat. It can keep a temperature mode comfortable for a person - from 36, 6 °C to 15 °C. One can use climate-control while driving a car or walking. For each separate case there’s foreseen a corresponding power source - either an adapter under the lighter jack or batteries packed in a stylish box fixed on the belt.

October 13 - There has been developed the technology of obtaining fresh water with the help of air-conditioners. Its author - Gulam Ali Sandzal (Dubai) - suggested a simple and efficient method to collect water condensate on full-scale plants of central air-conditioning widely used in UAE to create favorable conditions, air cooling down and cleansing in big residential complexes, villages, hospitals, educational institutions, hotels.
One small facility gives daily 40 l of water, which can be used to water plants and with technical purposes. Within the range of a city with the population of up to 1 million people, using of the technology will allow to save hundreds of million liters of water per year. Already several new residential complexes and technological complex in Dubai use water from air-conditioners.

October 9 - “Samsung Electronics” will build the factory in Mexico. According to “SABI” agency (South American Business Information), “Samsung Electronics Mexico” will invest 50 million dollars into building and start of the plant in Queretaro for production of refrigerators, air-conditioners, microwave ovens and washing machines. Main outlet will be the Northern America.

October 7 - According to “AFX Asia” agency, with the reference to “The Asahi Shimbun”, “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.” and “Haier Group” at the moment are holding negotiations about standardization (unification) of the key components for the air-conditioning equipment. If the negotiations go well, it is expected that the sides will use standardized key components on their joint enterprise in China, as well as on their own productions. According to the same sources, “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries” is discussing the possibility of mutual deliveries and issues of standardization of the key components of the air-conditioning equipment.

October 3 - In the first half of 2002 sales on the Japanese market have fallen down. According to “JARN” information, sales of domestic and semi-industrial air-conditioners on the Japanese market have reduced in the first half of 2002 (compared to the corresponding data of 2001) from 5,9% to 2,7% correspondingly.
