Repair of refrigerant outflow

As the refrigerant outflow may cause occurrence of other malfunctions in the system of air-conditioning, in this chapter the full information on procedures of repair and elimination of such malfunctions is given.

Attention: Before beginning of realization of any works connected to the system of air-conditioning, it is necessary to familiarize with the safety precautions described in the first chapter of the second part of this book

Outflow influence on the system of air-conditioning

Outflow of gas of the system of air-conditioning is shown by bad refrigeration as a result of reduction of the refrigerant amount. If pressure decreases below the specified value, then the cutoff switch of pressure which stops work of the compressor is switched on.

In places of outflow together with the refrigerant, oil goes out and the oil film is formed, therefore it is easy to find out a place of outflow. If there will be an excessive allocation of the refrigerant and oil it is necessary to clean and to fill all the system with a new refrigerant. Besides if during the repair, the refrigerating system was long time in an open condition it is necessary to replace a receiver - dehydrator.

Attention: It is impossible to mix refrigerants R-12 and R-134a.

Repair of the connecting union outflow

Check up the tightening torque of the union and if it is required at detection of outflow it is necessary at once to tighten it up to the required value. Thus, with the help of a wrench fix with back nut so that the pipeline was not turned. After that again carry out stock-taking of outflow.

If after the repeated tightening there will be an outflow, then it is necessary to let out the refrigerant from the system.

After that after having turned off the union, check up whether there are any damaged parts on a surface of a sealant and a sealing ring, and if there are, replace the damaged parts. After having greased the sealing ring with the compressor oil, cautiously insert on its place.

If nevertheless a lot of oil has flowed out, it is necessary to carry out checking of the oil amount.

Checking of the refrigerant oil amount

The reasons of loss of the refrigerant oil are destruction of a hose, excessive outflow in junctions, damage of details in connection with defect of a sealant of the compressor.

Checking of oil of the refrigerating system is carried out in the following order:

  • After having started the fan of the engine on the minimal speed, start the compressor as a minimum for 20 minutes with speed 800-1000 rev/min.
  • After having removed the fastening, take off the compressor from the automobile.
  • After having turned off the oil drain fuse, through rotating the compressor shaft, completely drain oil.
  • Measure the amount of merged oil with measured capacity.
  • Check a degree of pollution of oil.
  • Using a new lining, twist a drain fuse up to the regulated torque (10-12 Нм).

  • After screwing off the cementing plug, oil poured in.
  • Cementing plug is screwed with torque 10-12 Hm.
  • After air exhaust, the system is filled with the refrigerant.

Repair of outflow from the hose

Right after detection of outflow it is necessary to check up the tightening torque of the buckle. If after repeated fastening of the buckle, outflow continues to occur, the hose should be replaced.

Since on the site of connection of the pipeline and hose, the pipeline has dredging, and the hose adjoins densely to a surface for removal of the connecting tube hose, it is necessary to cut the top surface of a rubber hose.

The end of a new hose after dipping into the pure refrigerant should be put on a connecting part of the pipeline. The tightening adaptation of a hose should be installed on its place and tightened up to the regulated torque 5 Нм.

Attention: If a lot of oil has flowed out, check up the amount of oil.

After the air exhaust, the system is filled with the refrigerant.
