Organization and principle of action

 A – entrance
 B – exit
 1 – viewing glass
 2 – glass
 3 – reception pipeline
 4 – drier (packed)
 5 – hothouse
 6 – case
 7 – filter

The receiver - dehydrator consists of a vessel, a filter, a pipeline, a drier, a verifying viewing glass. The dehydrator is inside the vessel, and for prevention of penetration into system of foreign substances the network of filters is established. In liquid and little bit gaseous condition the refrigerant going from the condenser, comes into the dehydrator and since the coming liquid is heavier than gas, the liquid falls in the bottom part of the drier and through the drier, the network of filters flows to the target pipeline.

The receiver - drier carries out some functions:

  • Function of storage. As shown in figure, depending on thermal loading, liquid refrigerant should be kept.
  • Function of separating bubbles. In the liquefied refrigerant condenser, some of bubbles are formed, keeping part of the refrigerant in gaseous condition. These bubbles are completely separated and to expansion valve the liquid refrigerant comes only.
  • Function of moisture removal. Deletes a moisture and the alien substances contained in the refrigerant.
  • Function of pressure release. If pressure and temperature of the refrigerant upon the exit of a drier too strongly rises, for example, temperature up to 90-100°С, and pressure reaches 28 kg/sm2, the fusible crane A will fuse – and will let out the refrigerant.
  • and will let out the refrigerant. Through verifying viewing glass it is possible to observe of the refrigerant amount.

Checking of receiver - dehydrator

The procedure of checking:

At temperature of internal air from above 20°С it is possible to check up on viewing glass, whether the the refrigerant amount is sufficient.

In 5 minutes after the compressor start if at supervision on viewing glass current of the refrigerant has the form of slow or steep movement of bubbles it specifies insufficiency of the refrigerant amount.

Continuous bubbles under viewing glass in cold weather show conformity of the refrigerant amount and it is a normal condition. If we imagine that under viewing glass nothing is visible, and the characteristic is in a satisfactory condition, occurrence of bubbles from time to time does not indicate insufficiency of the refrigerant amount.

If under viewing glass there are continuous bubbles or the current breaks, they try to close partially the air passage through the condenser. If thus, viewing glass will clear up and also the characteristics of the refrigerating system will become satisfactory, it is considered that filling with the refrigerant is suitable.

There are cases of malfunctions of dehydrators due to internal corking.

If entrance aperture of the dehydrator is corked, the manometer will show a high pressure, and corking of the exhaust outlet – low pressure, thus will be shown also unsatisfactory work of system of conditioning.

If the target pipeline of the dehydrator will be extremely cold, it shows that in the dehydrator there are places of corking.
