    Is a condensing unit dangerous?

Unknown always causes alarm and fear, and the more a man has been a "cave-man", the stronger has been his/her panic. But even today this Neanderthal syndrome sometimes appears, otherwise how can we explain the great amount of absurd fantasies, appeared around the climatic equipment. By the way in this country "air - conditioner phobia" has an old tradition. But if about a baiting of the geneticists and cyberneticists knows each schoolboy, practically no one remembers about the "rout" of a magazine "Heating and ventilation" because of the publication of the materials connected with air conditioning. In 1940 these articles have been accepted as a " propaganda of bourgeois views in the technique" and up to 1955 ( when USSR has a need in air conditioners for the military objects) this topic has been prohibited

But even today, after rehabilitation of all " bourgeois sciences" from time to time the "soul-shilling" publications about conditioner's harm appear. But whether there is the real reason to worry about? Let's clear up this together.

At the central mass media there have been lots of publications, which frightened the most sensitive conditioner's owners. First of all it is the question of so-called illness of legionary, the victims of which become the people used to a chill. But nevertheless in majority of publications it is somehow passed over in silence that not all conditioners can become a disease-breeder. Problem is actual only for several systems of central conditioning, equipped by the systems of water recycling with cooling towers, but practically there are not such systems in this country. And as for the split-systems and window air conditioners the legionaries do not want to be found there. This infection prefers water dredge, warmed up to 30-350C , while in the household conditioners condensate has a temperature slightly above zero and moreover is immediately moved off the device. Just that is why no single case of infection by legionarism from split-systems or window air conditioners is registered at the entire world. And in this country there have been no diseased since the days of yore and till our time.

Often one can read about the harm of filters, installed on a condensing unit, which supposedly fishes out in the air useful for a man negative charged particles - "aerons". Following the execution, made on the air it becomes pure, but dead. This statement is rather disputable for everyone who knows well climatic equipment. Majority of modern split-systems and all window air conditioners have only one filter, which is a wire mesh. Its aim is not to allow the clogging of heat exchanger of inner block by dust, poplar fuzz and other garbage, loosed in the air. It is clear that it is not able to detain effectively separate atoms, and that is why aerons will fly through it, as mosquitoes through volleyball net. Moreover many companies produce air conditioning filters which have negative electrostatic charge, and that is why they are absolutely disable to catch negative particles.

Sometimes one can read that during epidemic "systems of condensing of large premises" can spread virus over the whole building, i.e. bring to everyone his/her own personal microbe. Such statements have been well-grounded about twenty years ago, when lots of central air conditioners and influx-and-extract plants have had plenum chambers. Now instead of them one prefers to install recuperators and that is why the supplied air and the air, extracting from the premise have no direct contacts. As a result the air saturated with microbes is extracted from the premise, and the fresh one is supplied instead of it.

Also conditioners are blamed in air overdrying. One of the leading employees of Institute of prophylactic medicine has made an exhibition of herself when insisting that humidity in the premise should be from 60-70% and higher, and that conditioners are reducing it to 30-40%. The funny side of a situation is in the fact that Construction regulations and rules (both native and foreign) regulate neatly the level of humidity in the premises: from 30% to 60%. And they categorically do not allow its rise higher than 70%, i.e. just the same is recommended by a madam in white gown.

And finally the last point of accusation is the following: air conditioner can cause a cold for those who are in the premises. Certainly, if one will sit straight under the air conditioner so that it will flow straight upon himself/herself it is very easy to get ill. But if this is not in your plans, it is enough to change the streamlines with the help of chokes. Besides all modern split-systems can vary up and down automatically and can disseminate chilly air only equally.
